  Kindergarten

  Full Day - 8:15-2:45

At St. Teresa of Avila, our Kindergarten program is rooted in the values of faith, compassion, and academic excellence. We provide a nurturing, faith-filled environment where children grow spiritually, academically, and socially. Guided by Catholic principles, our Kindergarten class is designed to foster a love for learning and a strong sense of community.

In our Catholic Kindergarten, children are introduced to the teachings of the Catholic faith in an age-appropriate way. Through prayer, Bible stories, and Catholic traditions, we encourage children to understand and live out values like kindness, respect, and service to others. The day begins when students are taught simple prayers and reflect on God’s love for them.

Kindergarten classes focus on a variety of skills and subjects, including:

  • Social and emotional development: Learning to get along with others, understand feelings, and resolve disagreements

  • Language and literacy: Learning to read, write, listen, and talk, and identifying letters and phonics

  • Math: Learning to count numbers, identify shapes, and perform simple addition and subtraction

  • Science and social studies: Learning about the world around them, including family, self, and geography

  • Cognitive skills: Learning to explore, observe, create, ask questions, and solve problems

  • Motor skills: Developing physical skills

Our Kindergarten students participate in enriching specials that offer opportunities for growth beyond the core curriculum:

  • Music: Exploring rhythm, song, and movement to foster a love for music and enhance listening skills.

  • Spanish: Introducing basic Spanish vocabulary and phrases in a fun, interactive environment.

  • Library: Storytime and the opportunity to explore books, fostering a love of reading and literacy.

  • Stretch & Grow: Physical education and movement activities designed to promote health, coordination, and teamwork.

  • Sharing: A time for children to share their experiences, thoughts, or special items, encouraging communication and self-expression.

By enrolling your child in our Kindergarten, you are giving them the opportunity to grow in faith and knowledge, surrounded by a community that cares deeply about their well-being. Join us as we lay the foundation for a lifetime of learning, service, and faith!
